Bozeman has plenty of nurseries and garden supply stores—at least a dozen! But fair warning: some spots on Google Maps are outdated, and a few don’t even have an online presence.
Sure, you can grab plants at Costco, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Smith’s, or WinCo, but keep in mind that these big-box stores often get their plants from far-off places where the climate is nothing like Bozeman. That means some of their greenery isn’t always suited for our tough Zone 4b conditions.
That’s why shopping at locally owned nurseries is the way to go! Not only will you find higher-quality, climate-appropriate plants, but you’ll also be supporting small businesses and getting expert advice from folks who actually know what grows here.
Here’s a list of locally owned stores I’ve personally visited and recommend!
Cashman Nursery
Long-standing local, family-owned and operated business. Seminars, outdoor plants, garden supplies, landscaping services, a small selection of house plants, and more. Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. A bozeman institution! Open all year long, but most of the action takes place May through July.
